Street & District Swimming Club – Fees Policy

Our membership year runs from 1st January - 31st December.

Membership fees are set annually in December, and training fees are set annually in September each year, by the committee. There are three fee types:

  • Annual Membership Fees (paid in the month of joining, and each January thereafter, due on 31st January): 2025 Fees:

£35 for Club Train members

£58 for Club Compete members

£20 for members whose Swim England fees are paid by another club

This fee is set annually to cover the cost of Swim England, South West Region and County Fees for all members, as well as the club’s main administration costs (e.g. Team Unify).

  • Monthly training: between £60.50 and £125 per month depending on squad – see individual squad pages (payable by standing order on 1st of each month).
  • Competition/Meet Fees: non-recurring fees include the cost of competition entries, which will be published as part of competition entry information.

 

The fees policy was agreed by the committee in September 2024.

 

Procedures

  • If a swimmer’s membership is upgraded from Club Train to Club Compete during the membership year, a top up membership fee is due to cover the difference in the cost. The top up fee is £20 for 2025. Movers after 1st October may be entitled to a discount in the following membership year if Swim England charges a reduced rate for the upgrade.
  • New members joining after 1st October may be entitled to a discount in the first whole calendar year of membership to reflect the reduction in Swim England fees applicable to joiners after that date.
  • The fee structure is clearly communicated via email with parents (for swimmers under 18) or with swimmers (if over 18) as they join the club or as the swimmer moves to a different squad. It is the parents/guardians’ or if over 18 the swimmer’s responsibility to provide an up-to-date email address which gets regularly checked (including spam folders).
  • Parents/Swimmers must pay by standing order into the club's account on the 1st of each month. If you choose not to pay by standing order, a £5 administration fee applies.
  • The swimming fee is an annual fee split over 12 months; fees remain payable during any breaks. Complete payment must be made to maintain a swimmer's membership of the club.
  • Members leaving the club must give one calendar month's notice in writing by emailing  [email protected] that they intend to leave.
  • Anybody handing notice in for the training free period in August and rejoining in September is due to pay August and September fees before they restart.
  • No fee reductions are possible for competitive squad swimmers who cannot attend all sessions.
  • For over 18’s swimming in club squad who have work commitments, we will consider reductions if they are unable to attend all sessions and lane space is available.
  • Families with 3 or more swimmers in the club will receive a 50% discount on the monthly fees of the lowest cost swimmer.
  • Individual arrangements for fees may be made in exceptional circumstances that are agreed by at least three committee members (i.e. chair, vice chair, secretary, treasurer or membership secretary). Therefore parents/guardians/swimmers need to report any exceptional circumstances at the earliest convenience.
  • Parents who regularly (an average of at least once a week) coach swim sessions voluntarily are eligible to receive a discount on one child's swim fees dependent on their commitment and approval by the executive committee.
  • On occasions where training sessions are unable to run due to circumstances beyond our control (e.g. pool closures) no credits to monthly fees will be issued. This clause does not stand if sessions cannot run for an extended period, and alternative sessions cannot be arranged.   

Fees arrears

  • Monthly fees are due on 1st of the month. An email reminder will be sent out if payments are not received by the 5th of the month (or next working day). 5% admin fee will be added to monthly fees if a reminder is sent.
  • If payments are still not received by a further 5 working days, the swimmer will not be permitted to continue swimming until the arrears are paid.
  • If annual membership fees are not paid by 15th February, Swim England membership will not be renewed. Swimmers may be suspended by the Committee from some or all Club activities from a date to be determined by the Committee until payment is made.
    There will be £5 admin fees to “re-install” membership for “Club Train” and £10 for “Club Compete”
